Free Reading - for Mary 15Oct18

Mary, your question was "What would be the outcome if I apply for a secretary job at the health clinic?"

16. Stars - 3. Ship - 32. Moon - 21. Mountain - 23. Mice

I'm attempting to read these cards with the "Idalia" meanings. That said, even with standard Lenormand meanings the beginning of the line looks very promising, but the end foretells of obstacles.

If we take the central card as key to the situation, it speaks of fun and frivolity and nothing very serious. It makes me wonder if you have any serious intent to apply for the job or whether you're perhaps just toying with the idea. Or you're not seen as a serious contender.

Leading up to the central card the Star and Ship show good fortune coming, recognition of your business abilities and a successful future career. I'll come back to that last bit.

The following cards, however, tell me that you have an "enemy" blocking your way. Someone who wants to rob you of your success. This could be someone at the health centre with a grudge against you specifically, or someone who may simply have their own person in mind for the position.

It could also be someone closer to home... The LWB meanings are definitely a product of their time, i.e. sexist, and the Ship states: "You are a clever business man, or if a woman, a good housekeeper or arranger of social affairs." Ugh!! But maybe they, or even you, don't want you working outside the home. Or if you already do, maybe this job is seen as too demanding of your time.

As an exercise, and because I know you're a "cardie" and will be interested, I'll quickly apply the LWB's 5-card method - Your success is blocked by someone who sees you as frivolous and wishes to impugn your reputation.

I don't as a rule use the quintessence (adding the numbers of the cards and reducing them to a figure between 1 and 36) or the shadow/bottom card with Lenormand, but again as an exercise, they were Fox and Garden, respectively. A deceiver in your circle of friends, perhaps?

My overall impression from these cards is that now is not a good time to make an application. There's nothing disastrous here, and you're welcome to try, of course. Never let the cards "tell" you what to do. But the gentle suggestion 😏 is that for now you enjoy yourself and make the most of your time. The Ship promises success "in the future". Think about what you really want to achieve - Stars + Ship tells us you are capable of great things.

  1. First, I want to thank you for your time and thank you for doing this reading for me.

I'll give some feedback here but if you would like more details, I'll send them privately if that's ok.

I think you hit the nail on the head. You were spot on for several things.

You mention that I may be toying with the idea. I have been considering a dept transfer for a couple months now. I have doubts and it's making me procrastinate in actually taking the necessary steps to make it happen. LOL This job at the health clinic in particular has it's own set of uncertainties.

You also mentioned an enemy. I believe it might be my current dept head. She would not be happy if i left and would like to keep me "at home". Also, my current job is somewhat "home" related.

I have informed her that I would like a dept transfer but she really needs every staff member she can get bc we're very short-staffed atm. She might try to block any attempts at a dept transfer at this time. Would she tell the health clinic head that I wouldn't be a good fit for a job there just to keep me in my current dept? I don't know. The cards seem to suggest she might.

I'll have to mull it over a bit more, weigh some more pros and cons before deciding anything.

Thank you again, Judy. I really enjoyed your reading and it definitely gave me some food for thought.

    1. Oh Mary, thank you for giving such detailed feedback, and so quickly! I don't work with Lenormand often, so I'm relieved that it actually made some sense. I love the idea that your dept head could be the person who wants to keep you "at home". I wonder, then, if they might see the Moon's "dissipation" not so much as frivolousness on your part, but self-indulgence in wanting to go your own way. How very selfish of you, LOL!

If ever anything comes up about this situation that you're happy to share, I'd love to hear about it. Best wishes, whatever you decide to do.

    2. I'm going to bore you with even more Lenormand wittering now. :)

Thinking about what you said yesterday, it occurred to me that, had I been using standard Lenormand meanings, Mountain would simply have been an obstacle, and with Mouse following, one that was likely to lessen with time.

With Idalia, however, Mountain is an enemy, assumed to be an actual person (though not necessarily). Because I'm not used to thinking about Mountain in those terms, I took the next card to be the enemy's effect on you - they would cause you loss. But if you apply the convention that the second card describes or modifies the first card, then it's the "dept head" who experiences, or at least fears, "the loss". Hmm. ;)

    3. You're so welcome :)

Some dept folks think that my choice to leave my current dept is frivolous or that I'm just bored with it. The cards are right on that point. ;)

Thank you for the "Lenormand wittering" I enjoy understanding how the cards "think"

      Thanks again, Judy.
